Johnstown Chiefs Announce Food Drive this Weekend
March 11, 2008 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1)
Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry News Release
Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they, and Memorial Medical Center, will be holding food drives to benefit Food for Families.
There will be collection barrels located in the lobby of the War Memorial for the Chiefs' home games this Saturday and Sunday. All fans in attendance are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Food for Families organization.
For anyone who can't attend either game and still wants to contribute, the Memorial Medical Center has several locations where donations can be made. They include: Memorial Medical Center, Main Campus, Memorial Medical Center, Lee Campus, Westwood Finance Division, John P. Murtha Neuroscience and Pain Institute, Meyersdale Medical Center, and Miners Medical Center.
This is the Chiefs' second drive to benefit Food for Families this season after the holiday food drive on December 22 and 23 soared above and beyond expectations. That effort resulted in nearly six barrels full of food, weighing in at over 2,000 pounds! The Chiefs know that they have the most generous fans in the ECHL, and would love to top the totals from December.
The Chiefs look to continue their climb up the North Division standings with a pair of home games this Saturday and Sunday. The Elmira Jackals come to town on Saturday for a 7:05 PM faceoff, and after the game the Chiefs will host their annual Kunzler Easter Ham Shoot. Each fan will be invited to come to ice level and shoot for a free Easter ham. On Sunday, the Chiefs will be holding a Saint Patrick's Day celebration, and they will be giving away team posters to the first 2,000 fans. That game will mark the Reading Royals' last trip of 2007-08 to the War Memorial, and it will begin at 5:05 PM. Great seats are available for both games! Get yours today by calling the War Memorial Box Office at 536-5156, or by logging on to www.johnstownchiefs.com.
