Minot Skyrockets News Release
Minot, ND - March 11, 2008 - The Continental Basketball Association announced the 2008 play-off schedule yesterday. The CBA Playoffs will be contested by five teams as they all battle to capture the CBA championship.
In the American Conference, the top three teams will advance to the playoffs. The East Kentucky Miners will face the Pittsburgh Xplosion tonight in Pittsburgh in a one game play-in game. The winner of that contest will then advance to play the American Conference Regular Season Champion Minot Skyrockets in a three-game series. The Skyrockets will be hosting a viewing party at Sports on Tap this evening to watch the East Kentucky vs. Pittsburgh game via WebTelevision. The game will begin at 7:00 pm Central Time and will determine the opponent for the Skyrockets and the game schedule.
If the East Kentucky Miners advance, the Skyrockets will travel to East Kentucky to play on March 13 and then return home for Game 2 on March 17 and, if necessary, Game 3 on March 18. If the Pittsburgh Xplosion advance, the first two games will be in Minot on March 17 and 18, with Game 3 being played in Pittsburgh on March 20, if necessary.
In the National Conference, both the Yakama Sun Kings and the Oklahoma Cavalry have clinched playoff spots. They will play a three game conference series to determine the champion of the National Conference. The first game will take place in Oklahoma on March 11. The Sun Kings will host the Cavalry on March 14 and if necessary March 17.
The conference champions will then face each other in the CBA Finals. The format will be a five-game series. The lower seed will host the first two games with the remaining games hosted by the higher seed.
The Skyrockets will be opening the box office for play-off tickets starting at noon on Friday. Hours will be 12-6 pm on Friday, 12-4 pm on Saturday, and starting at noon on Monday. Tickets can also be reserved in advance by calling 839-SLAM or sending an email to tickets@minotskyrockets.com.
