Johnson's Big Night Lifts Erie to Victory

The SeaWolves scored three late runs on Friday night as they took down the Trenton Thunder 5-2 at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves wasted no time in the first inning as Jaime Johnson sent a leadoff home run to right to give Erie a 1-0 lead. The home run for Johnson was his third of the season.

The Thunder quickly responded in the second as Tyler Austin reached base on a fielding error. He moved to third on a base hit and scored on a double play ball, tying the game.

The 'Wolves answered in the third as Machado and Johnson led off with back-to-back walks. They advanced on a Jason Krizan fly out to center and Machado scored on a Devon Travis base hit making it 2-1.

The Thunder came right back in the fifth as Dan Fiorito sent a leadoff home run to left, tying the game 2-2.

The SeaWolves jumped back ahead in the last of the seventh against reliever Tyler Webb. Johnson led off with a single and advanced to second on a Krizan sacrifice bunt. Travis was intentionally walked to set up a double play. Steven Moya singled home Johnson for a 3-2 lead. Cabrera singled home Travis making it 4-2.

The 'Wolves added onto their lead in the eighth as Machado reached base with a one-out double. He scored on Johnson 's third hit of the night for a 5-2 lead.

Angel Nesbitt retired the final four batters of the game, earning his first save.

Slade Smith (1-2) earned his first win tossing two scoreless innings in relief of starter Wilsen Palacios.

Palacios took the no-decision allowing two runs on three hits with five walks and four strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
