John Moyer Named ADT Defensive Player Of The Week

April 1, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release

Chicago Rush defensive lineman John Moyer has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the team's 59-35 win over Arizona Friday night at Allstate Arena, the AFL announced today.

Moyer was dominant on defense, recording two sacks and an interception, along with forcing and recovering a fumble.

His two sacks give him 40.5 for his career and move him into seventh place in AFL history. The fumble recovery was the 17th of his career, good for fourth place on the AFL's all-time list.

"It was a tremendous performance," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "It seemed like he had a hand in just about everything good that happened on defense Friday night - and some of his plays were nothing short of spectacular. I think we knew as soon as the game was over that he would be the leading candidate for this honor."

The Rush (4-1) takes its three-game winning streak on the road to Orlando this week to play the Predators (3-2) Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and heard in Chicago on 560AM WIND. It is the first meeting between the teams since the Rush defeated Orlando 69-61 in ArenaBowl XX on June 11, 2006.
