John Deere Weekend Approaching
January 25, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - Sleek lines and familiar colors behind a logo evoking a tradition of pride and reliability; the adjectives describe the John Deere products which have been made in Waterloo for more than a century, as well as the John Deere jerseys which the Waterloo Black Hawks will wear February 1st and 2nd during John Deere Weekend at Young Arena.
The Hawks will wear the sweaters in tribute to the Cedar Valley's most famous corporate citizen during games against the Fargo Force and the Muskegon Lumberjacks, both beginning at 7:05 p.m. Following Saturday's tilt with the league-leading Lumberjacks, the jerseys will be auctioned to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley. In addition, John Deere employees and their families will receive $5 tickets by showing their company ID when visiting the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office.
"When the United States Hockey League schedule is released each July, John Deere Weekend is always near the top of the list of games our organization is excited to host," said Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. "Deere employees help to make the Cedar Valley go, in addition to building great equipment. I know that they will also be enthusiastic for this year's partnership to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley."
The unique 2019 Deere jersey design includes a primarily white base with green shoulders and sleeves and a black band around waist-level. The trademarked green and gold John Deere logo and name appear on the chest, while Waterloo Black Hawk logos are found on each sleeve above the player number. On the shoulder, the numbers are white, while player names and numbers on the back of the sweaters are green.
This is the first season that the John Deere Weekend jersey auction will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Cedar Valley. Club members participate in the organization's activities which are safe, fun, and life-changing. The impact is impressive: 88 percent of club members say helping others is a priority, 89 percent have self-confidence, and those who attend the club tend to have success at school, as measured by GPA and number of class days missed.
