Seattle Reign FC News Release
Seattle - The Football Association (FA) today announced England's women's national team roster for upcoming World Cup qualifying matches. Seattle Reign FC forward Jodie Taylor was named to the team. England plays Wales on Friday, August 31 before meeting Kazakhstan on Tuesday, September 4.
The Lionesses are now second in Group 1, owning a 5-0-1 (16 points) record in qualifying. Wales is the group leader on 17 points, currently in position to qualify for the nation's first Women's World Cup berth.
In six qualifying matches thus far, Taylor has scored two goals. During her international career, she scored a goal in England's quarterfinal win at the 2015 World Cup, leading the team to its first semifinal. Taylor also became the first Englishwoman to net a hat trick in a major tournament when she scored three times on Scotland at the 2017 Euros.
Taylor currently ranks fifth in the NWSL in goals, tied with teammate Megan Rapinoe. The English striker also has one assist on the year. Playing in her first year with Seattle, Taylor has helped the team occupy second place in the league table for a majority of the season. She is also the lone Reign FC player to appear in every match this season.
Reign FC has three matches left in its regular season schedule. The club finishes its home slate with matches on Tuesday, August 21 vs. Houston and Saturday, August 25 vs. North Carolina. Tickets are available at reignfc.com/tickets or by calling (855)-REIGN-FC.
