CHICAGO - Sky Blue FC forward Katie Johnson was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association for Week 21 of the 2018 NWSL season.

Johnson, 23, scored two goals - including her second brace of the season - to help Sky Blue secure a 2-2 draw against Utah Royals FC on Saturday night at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Riding the 2-1 advantage from Johnson, Sky Blue was just moments away from all three points in stoppage time but a late goal by Utah forced them to settle for their fifth tie of the year.

The Monrovia, Calif. native scored the opening goal of the match in the 14 th minute as part of a sustained build up and attacking sequence by the New Jersey club. In the end, midfielder Raquel Rodriguez slipped a short pass in behind for Johnson, who blasted a right-footed shot in the far corner as she was being pulled down from behind to beat Utah goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart.

The Mexico International added her second goal of the game in the 48 th minute as her attempted pass to Imani Dorsey was deflected off a defender and right back in to her path. Johnson wasted no time bending a shot into the upper corner to give Sky Blue FC a 2-0 advantage.

The USC product played 66 minutes and finished with finished with two of three shots on goal including one shot off the woodwork in the 50 th minute, according to Opta.

It is the first time Johnson has been honored as the NWSL Player of the Week and the 10th time a member of the Sky Blue has won the award.

The Sky Blue FC will return to action Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 11 p.m. ET against Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park in Portland, Ore.
