Jickling Signs with Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has signed Mike Jickling. Jickling joins defenseman Steve Spencer as the second player signed by the Stingrays this season. The upcoming year will mark Jickling's third campaign with the franchise.

The native of Edmonton, Alberta had 61 points in his first season with the Rays on 26 goals and 35 assists. He followed that season with 46 points on 12 goals and 34 assists a year ago. The 31 year old, began his professional career in 1998-99 and spent nine games with Long Beach of the IHL that year.

"Mike had a tough time last season with injuries, but still managed to be a huge contributor to our success," noted Fitzsimmons. "Mike gives us a solid force up the middle to build our team around."

Jickling was an eighth round draft pick of the Quebec Nordiques in 1992. He spent four years in the WHL before attending the University of Alberta for five seasons from 1993-98.
