Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx brought back a face from the past Thursday with the signing of Josh St. Louis to a contract for the 2004-05 Season.
St. Louis, 28, spent the 2001-02 and 2002-03 Seasons with the Lynx, compiling 28 goals and 31 assists for 59 points in 125 games with the club. Last season St. Louis went to the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League, where he scored 12 goals and 18 points in 60 games. A popular figure in the Augusta area, the Calgary, Alberta native is looking forward to returning to the club.
"I'm very excited to be coming back to Augusta," said St. Louis. "It's where I started my pro career, and I was always very comfortable playing in front of the fans there. I met a lot of really good people while I was there and it made it an easy decision to come back."
As for his play, St. Louis promises fans will see more of what they've come to expect from him.
"I make my living in the corners," he grinned. "I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win games. The team should be focused on making the playoffs this year, and I think it's completely fitting that I have a chance to come back here and accomplish that."
Lynx Head Coach and Director of Player Operations Stan Drulia also appreciates what St. Louis brings to the table.
"He's a guy we wanted last season, but with the uncertain situation of things he elected to go to Austin," said Drulia. "He gives an honest effort every night, and he's a great guy in the locker room. Not to mention he's a 20-goal scorer and responsible defensively. I'm excited to have him back in Augusta."
With the signing of St. Louis, the Lynx now have six players under contract for the 2004-05 Season: St. Louis, Jason Saal, Louis Goulet, Treavor Peterson, Jarrett Thompson, and Todd Bennett. More player signings are to follow in the coming weeks.
Full and partial season tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office by calling (706) 724-4423, or stopping by the office at 712 Telfair St. in downtown Augusta.
