
JetHawks Stun Sixers with Another Comeback

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino dropped the finale of their three-game series with Lancaster as the JetHawks got a two-run homer from Casey Golden down to the club's final out leading them to an 8-7 comeback victory. It was the second time in the series that the 66ers lost a ninth inning lead as Inland Empire fell to 28-48 overall and 2-5 in the second half.
Inland Empire got big offensive nights from several players including a two-run homers from Gareth Morgan (8) and Orlando Martinez (4). Morgan has now slugged seven homers in 13 games with the Sixers and Martinez has gone deep in four of the club's last eight games. Martinez and catcher Franklin Torres each had three hits while Morgan, Jordan Zimmerman and Devin Davis each added two. Inland Empire led 7-3 through six innings but the JethHawks (39-36, 5-2) scored three time is the seventh getting an RBI single from Sean Bouchard, sac fly from Ryan Vilade and RBI double from Golden. With two outs in the ninth, Vilade legged out an infield single to shortstop against IE reliever Connor Higgins (0-3). Golden then followed with his tenth homer of the season to give the JetHawks a one-run advantage. Inland Empire put two on base in the bottom of the ninth with one out, but Tommy Doyle got a strikeout and ground out to notch his 12th save. Austin Moore (5-0) was credited the win with a scoreless eighth inning of work.
