Knoxville Smokies News Release
KODAK, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies (58-49, 21-17) shutout the Mississippi Braves (49-58, 20-18) 1-0 for the second time this week Saturday night at Smokies Stadium. Entering the series, the Smokies had not won a game this season when scoring only one, but they have now done so twice in the last three nights.
RHP Ryan Jensen (W, 2-3) led the way in the Smokies' eighth shutout of the year. Jensen tied his season-high with five innings, allowing only three baserunners and striking out seven. Out of the bullpen, Bailey Horn (7 K) and Hunter Bigge (S, 2) combined for four scoreless frames to close out the game.
Tennessee's lone run of the evening came off the bat of second baseman Chase Strumpf, as he plated first baseman Bryce Ball with a single for his 45th RBI of the year. Ball had doubled in the inning, one of three Tennessee hits for the game. Delvin Zinn recorded a single in his return from paternity leave.
The Smokies will play the finale of their series with the Mississippi Braves Sunday afternoon at Smokies Stadium with a series-victory on the line. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. ET when the Smokies send LHP Jordan Wicks (0-2, 3.94) to the mound. Fans can catch the action on 99.1 The Sports Animal or by visiting https://www.milb.com/tennessee/fans/audio-listen-live.
