Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL â The United Hockey League has named Quad City Mallards center Jeff Williams the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week for Feb. 9-15. It is the third time this season Williams has received the honor. He also won the award for Nov. 3-9 and for Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
In three games last week, Williams scored eight points, on four goals and four assists, and earned a +3 plus/minus rating. He earned three assists in Friday's 5-2 win at Missouri. He then tied a franchise record with three power play goals (and an assist) in Saturday's 6-3 win over Muskegon, notching his second hat trick of the season. He added a goal in Sunday's 5-1 triumph over Adirondack. Williams has 11 points (6g, 5a) in the last five games, an eight-game home goal-scoring streak, and a 13-game home point-scoring streak. He ranks third in the UHL with 32 goals this season.
When Williams scored his Saturday hat trick, he helped young Mallards fan Allison Miller of Bettendorf win the $950.00 jackpot in the Valley Bank Match for Savings Deluxe game. At each Mallards home game, a young fan is chosen at random and predicts which Mallard will score three goals in the game. Allison predicted Williams would get the hat trick and takes home the jackpot, which has been building up by $50 increments all season.
It is the fourth time a Mallards player has taken weekly honors. Rookie forward Lanny Gare also won Player of the Week, for Jan. 6-12.
The Mallards host the Adirondack IceHawks this Friday at 7:00 p.m. on Scratch and Score with Sprint Night. After a 6:30 p.m. (Central time) game at Flint on Saturday, the Mallards return home for i wireless Family Fun-Day Sunday and a 4:00 p.m. matchup with the Missouri River Otters. Tickets to all Mallards home games are available at The MARK box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (563) 326-1111, or online by following the tickets link at www.qcmallards.com.
