Big Trade Brings Prochazka To Port Huron

Port Huron, MI â The Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League (UHL) announce the trade sending Simon Poirier to the Elmira Jackals and Mike Thompson to the Quad City Mallards and brings Mike Prochazka to Port Huron.
The three way trade sent defensemen Simon Poirier to Elmira for defensemen Mike Prochazka and right wing Mike Thompson to Port Huron. Elmira also received the Beacons third round draft pick in the Amateur Draft held this March. The second part of the trade sends Mike Thompson to Quad City for the rights of defensemen Wade Winkler. Winkler was loaned to the Beacons earlier in the season with the intention of returning to the Mallards.
"Mike is a skilled two way defensemen who has a tremendous amount of up side to his play. He had a good season in Elmira and proved he can play at the highest level in the UHL," stated Head Coach Bruce Ramsay. " He moves the puck and reads the ice well. He has shown he is a good player in his zone, which is reflected in his plus/minus, one of the highest on the Jackals roster this season.
Prochazka played 44 games with the Jackals earning seven goals and 11 assists for a total of 18 points. He also registered a +5 and 20 PIM's.
