
James Pantemis and Samuel Piette Called up by Canada

MONTREAL - Goalkeeper James Pantemis and midfielder Samuel Piette have been selected by the Canadian national team to take part in a training camp and in a Concacaf Nations League qualification game, on Tuesday, October 16, against Dominica, in Toronto, Ontario.
Pantemis, 21, will attend his third training camp with the Canadian national team. He was first called up to the Canadian U15 team in 2012 and also played with the U16, U17, U18 and U20 teams, before being called up for two senior team camps in 2017. He recently represented Canada at the Toulon tournament in 2018.
Piette, 23, has recorded two assists in 39 games with the Canadian national team, including 24 starts. He made his senior debut with the Reds at the age of 17, on June 3, 2012, against the United States. He recently took part in the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup, starting all four games during the tournament. He had previously played in the 2013 and 2015 editions, while also appearing in several 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification games. He also represented Canada at the U17, U20 and U23 levels and played in the 2011 FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico.
The new Concacaf Nations League kicks off an exciting era for Canada Soccer's Men's National Team in its road to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. At stake in the 2018-19 Concacaf Nations League qualifying campaign is a spot in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, as well as group ranking in Concacaf Nations League. After 68 qualification matches, the top 10 nations will qualify for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup while the top six selections will additionally be assigned to Concacaf Nations League "A".
