
Jamal Bynum, Winston Starr, and Baela Brucker Sign to Academy Roster

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are thrilled to announce the signing of Jamal Bynum, Winston Starr and Baela Brucker to the New Mexico United Academy roster. The trio of players have already begun training with their academy teammates, and are eligible to play in Academy matches immediately.
"Jamal, Winston and Baela each bring something different and exciting to the table for our club," said United Academy Head Coach Luke Sanford. "I am beyond excited to work with these young New Mexicans, help them develop on and off the pitch, and see the impact that they have on our club and our community."
Bynum is a 17-year old defender from Rio Rancho, and the brother of United Academy graduate, and current United U23 player Lamar Bynum. His favorite soccer team is Wolverhampton Wanderers, and his favorite player is Harry Kane. His favorite soccer memory is winning the state title with Rio Rancho High School in 2021. When he grows up, Jamal hopes to become a medical trainer.
Starr is a 14-year old midfielder from Albuquerque. His favorite soccer team is Arsenal, and his favorite player is Mesut Ozil. His favorite soccer memory was traveling to Florida with the ODP regional team. He has played club soccer for NMSA, and high school soccer for La Cueva High School. When he grows up, Winston hopes to become a professional soccer player.
Brucker is a 17-year old midfielder from Albuquerque. He played his high school soccer for Albuquerque High, and his club soccer for NMSA. His favorite soccer team is The United States National Team. His favorite player is Mesut Ozil. When he grows up, Baela hopes to be a professional soccer player and coach.
