Geobel Perez Jr. Named to USL Championship Team of the Week

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The USL Championship announced Tuesday the Week 20 Team of the Week, which features Battery midfielder Geobel Perez Jr. among the week's selected top performers.

The Cuban playmaker recorded one goal and one assist, along with completing 22 of 27 passes overall (81% accuracy) in the Battery's dramatic 3-3 draw against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Geobel Jr. also led the match with seven duels won.

"The honor means a lot to me since it demonstrates all the work I've been putting in, and it motivates me a lot to continue working hard for the team and my teammates," said Geobel Jr.

Battery defender and captain AJ Paterson was selected to the Team of the Week bench (honorable mention) for his showing against Colorado Springs. Paterson scored an equalizer in the final minutes of the match to earn Charleston the point on the road, a strike that also earned him a nomination for Goal of the Week.

The slate of awards helps kick off the final week of July action as the Battery will host Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, July 30, at Patriots Point to close out the month.
