Dos Santos, Fernandes Named to USL Team of the Week

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla - The Tampa Bay Rowdies are well represented on the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 20 of the 2022 season. Tampa Bay's Steevan Dos Santos and Leo Fernandes both earned a spot on the Team of the Week for their key contributions in the club's 3-1 win over Atlanta United 2 over the weekend.
This is Dos Santos' first Team of the Week selection of the season. After being sidelined for over a month, the Rowdies target man has found his form with three goals over the last two matches. His two goals against Atlanta at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday put the Rowdies ahead after an early concession against the run of play.
"During his injury, Steevan kept himself fit," said Rowdies Head Coach Neill Collins. "He's worked hard to sustain that because he got himself to a good level just before his injury. He got his goals now. He's a great finisher. We know Steevan's proven that, so I'm very pleased for him."
Fernandes earns his second Team of the Week spot, continuing his sensational 2022 campaign. The attacking midfielder provided the assist on Dos Santos' second tally to give the Rowdies 2-1 lead in the first half and then earned and converted a penalty in the second half to put the match out of Atlanta's reach. With his goal versus Atlanta, Fernandes now has five goals in July and 11 in total for the season. Along with leading the Rowdies in goals, Fernandes also now leads the team with five assists.
"Leo's doing well," said Collins. "...there's only one reward we're wanting to pick up right now, and that's a USL Championship title. Everything else is just a side note. If Leo keeps playing the way he's playing, he's gonna give us a great chance at doing that."
The Rowdies travel to face Indy Eleven this Saturday, July 30 at 7:00 p.m. ET before returning home on Saturday, August 6 to host USL Championship newcomer Detroit City FC. Kickoff for the match against Detroit is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase tickets for the match here or by calling the Rowdies sales office at 727-222-2000.
