Jam wins in Miami
February 7, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jacksonville Slam News Release
The Jacksonville Jam (19-7) traveled to Miami knowing that each of the final two contests remaining with the Tropics (18-5) would be crucial to determine positioning come ABA playoff time. And they did not disappoint JAM fans. Jacksonville jumped out to a 30-20 first quarter lead and held strong throughout the game, setting the pace by shooting a sizzling 53 percent from the field, compared to 37 percent for the Tropics.
Trey Moore led the Jam with 31 points, making 10 of 17 shots, including 6 of 8 on three-pointers. Bobby St. Preux and DeRon Rutledge each had 19 points with St. Preux making 6 of 9 shots, including 4 of 5 on threes, and Rutledge shooting 7 of 11. Jerry Williams and newly acquired point guard Roy Booker rounded out the JAM scoring with double-doubles of 12 points and 11 rebounds and 10 points and 10 assists respectively. The Tropics were led by shooting guard Marcus Barnes, who had a game-high 36 points although he hit only 11 of 34 shots from the field as the JAM defense held him in check.
Jacksonville has now beaten Miami in two of the last three outings with one game remaining on the season series.
