BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (23-11) were defeated by the Los Angeles D-Fenders (15-19) on Saturday night by a final score of 114-99.
Bakersfield and Los Angeles went back-and-forth in the first half as both teams put up 49 points apiece. However, the D-Fenders took control in the second half as they built a lead by as many as 21 points in the final period and ultimately outscored the Jam by 15 (65-50) in that second half. Bakersfield committed 21 turnovers and got outscored 58-40 in points in the paint.
Renaldo Major led the Jam in scoring with 27 points while Atlanta Hawks' assignee Mike Scott posted a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Stephen Dennis tallied 13 points off the bench for the Jam.
The D-Fenders were paced by Courtney Fortson who scored a game-high 28 points to go along with 10 assists. Elijah Millsap had 21 points and seven rebounds while Morris Almond scored 12 points.
Both teams battle each other again tomorrow in Bakersfield at 4 p.m. PST.
