Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (27-19) had seven players score in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as the Los Angeles D-Fenders (34-12) came out with the victory by a final score of 93-87.

First quarter ended all even at 20, as both teams exchanged buckets throughout the first 12 minutes of play. Bakersfield had a rough second quarter as they only shot 33.3% (9-27) from the field, compared to Los Angeles 63.6%. Bakersfield's struggles in the second period put them in a 24 point deficit, finding themselves trailing 58-41 at halftime. After intermission, the Jam came out playing aggressive defense holding the D-Fenders to 29.4% shooting from the field. Momentum swung the Jam's way as they attacked the basket consistently earning 22 free-throw attempts, making 14 of those, and ultimately cutting the deficit to four points entering the fourth quarter (73-69). Bakersfield continued to battle in the final period, but came up short at the end of a playoff-type game.

Bakersfield was led by Brian Butch's double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Four Jam players scored 11 points apiece (Major, Byars, Leslie, Thomas), while Adam Koch and Jeremy Wise each scored 10 points.

Elijah Millsap led the D-Fenders with a double-double of his own scoring 18 points and dishing out 10 assists. Orien Greene tallied 18 points, while Otis George and Kareem Rush recorded 13 points each off the bench.

Bakersfield continues their road trip to Dakota, where they will battle the Wizards on Monday April 2 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
