Jam Earn a 96-85 Victory over Idaho Stampede

BAKERSFIELD, March 26, 2014 - The Bakersfield Jam (21-24) defeated the Idaho Stampede (23-22) Wednesday night for a 96-85 road victory.

After an offensively assertive first quarter Bakersfield ended the first twelve minutes of play with a four point advantage (25-21) and held the lead at intermission (54-41). Bakersfield kept the momentum while Idaho also attempted to improve their performance in the third quarter (20-20). The Jam had already commanded victory with a double digit lead and made it impossible for the Stampede to move past them in the final frame.

Overall, the Jam shot better from the field (48.1%-33.0%) and shot 42.1% from beyond the arc. Bakersfield had more points in the paint (48-38) and more fast break points (11-9). There was three lead changes in the game and were only tied twice. In addition Bakersfield carried the biggest lead of the game (17).

Ike Diogu finished the game with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremy Wise contributed 14 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists while Derrick Byars tallied 12 points and five rebounds. Jerel McNeal and Terrel Harris scored 10 points each.

Idaho was paced by Kevin Murphy (20 points, 6 rebounds) and Vander Blue who had 17 points. Dee Bost posted 14 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Allen Crabbe had 12 points.

Bakersfield will travel back home to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday, March 28 at 7:00 p.m. PDT.
