
Delaware 87ers to Honor Delaware Boys and Girls Club Directors on March 28

NEWARK, DE.-March 27, 2014- The Delaware 87ers today announced Delaware Boys and Girls Club Directors Candice Brown, Nancy Gill, Ron Handy, Kim Harkins and Stuart Sherman will receive the Sevens "Hero Among Us" award on Friday, March 28 when the Sevens host the Erie BayHawks at the Bob Carpenter Center at 7 p.m.
The Delaware Boys and Girls Club embodies the nationwide movement to inspire and enable all youth to reach their full potential while serving as productive, responsible and caring citizens. With 42 sites stretching across all three counties in the state of DE, more than 25,000 youth are served annually. The clubs provide quality programs which focus on educational enhancement, physical education, character building and much more.
Candice Brown has been with the B&G Club for several years and has worked in child care since 1988. Candice, Director for the Brown B&G Club, oversee's operations for one of the largest clubs which serves more than 2,000 kids per year.
Nancy Gill has been with the B&G Club for more than 10 years. She is the Program Director for Claymont B&G Club which serves more than 1,500 kids per year.
Kim Harkins, Unit Director for the Claymont B&G Club, has been with the B&G Club for more than 15 years.
Ron Handy, Program Director for the New Castle B&G Club, has been with the B&G Club for more than 15 years. This club serves more than 2,200 youth per year.
Stuart Sherman, Executive Director for the Greater Newark B&G Club, has been with the organization for more than 20 years and has led the state's largest Club which serves more than 3,000 kids per year.
The Delaware 87ers will honor these club leaders for exhibiting exceptional leadership and overwhelming work done in the community through the Delaware Boys and Girls Club. In addition, the Sevens have donated 650 tickets to the Delaware Boys and Girls Club for Friday night's game.
