Jam Deflate Bounce To Win 21st Game Of Season
February 13, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jacksonville Slam News Release
The Jacksonville Jam (21-7) defeated the South Alabama Bounce (6-18) to win its 3rd straight and sixth of its last seven to notch its 21st victory of the season on the road in Mobile, Alabama on Monday night.
The Jam came out and took control early on and led by as many as ten points in the first quarter. Jerry Williams and Anthony Hatcher set the pace for the Jam and at the end of the first stanza Jacksonville led 26-16.
The second quarter belonged to South Alabama as the Jam grew cold and could not convert a basket for five minutes of the second period. Cold shooting and two mishandled outlet passes led to two 3 D's for the Bounce and South Alabama went in leading at half-time 48-42.
The third quarter and entire second half belonged to the Jacksonville Jam, as the Jam dominated the game in every phase. Jacksonville's defensive pressure set the tone and the Jam's shots fell as the Jam scored 83 points in the second half to secure its 11th victory of the season on the road.
Williams led the way for the Jam with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Hatcher followed up with 18 points. The Jam was very balanced as they have been all season long with Trey Moore putting up another double/double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. DeRon Rutledge again dominated the paint scoring 14 points and pulling down 6 rebounds. Johnny Tyson had another impressive evening for the Jam with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots. Anthony Lumpkin returned to the Jam lineup and added 15 points and 4 assist. Bobby St. Preux scored 13 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, and Nick Wallery returned to form with a banner night with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
