7'9" Sun Ming Ming comes to Rochester February 22

(Rochester, New York)...The defending American Basketball Association champion Rochester RazorSharks, coming off a 131-89 win over Hollywood last Sunday, upped their record to 18-6 and are entering the stretch run for the playoffs with 24 days left in the regular season. Rochester has seven games remaining on their regular season schedule, including four home games at The Blue Cross Arena, where the RazorSharks are averaging 3,874 fans per game to lead all of minor league professional basketball.

Rochester will host the Cape Cod Frenzy on Monday, February 19 at 4:05 p.m., then welcome 7'9" center Sun Ming Ming and the Maryland Nighthawks on Thursday, February 22 at 7:05 p.m. Ming is the tallest professional basketball player in the world, and has played in three games for Maryland, averaging 7.5 points, three rebounds and four blocked shots per game. The Nighthawks are 12-12 and will be making a three-game northern swing before coming to Rochester on the February 22.

SIMS, FRIEL SET FRANCHISE RECORDS

Guard Lazarus Sims had 21 assists against Hollywood last Sunday to set a franchise record for most assists in one game - he is currently averaging 7.7 assists per game. Guard Keith Friel knocked down seven three-point shots to also set a franchise game record on his way to scoring 27 points against Hollywood. Friel is 75 for 190 (40%) from the three-point arc this season.

31 STRAIGHT WINS ON HOME COURT AND COUNTING

The RazorSharks have won 31 straight games on home court at The Blue Cross Arena, setting the Rochester professional basketball record - and a local all-time pro sports record - for consecutive home wins. Rochester is 34-2 all-time on home court (14-0 this season) and have a 48-10 (.828%) all-time overall record in the ABA. The RazorSharks last lost at home on Thursday, November 24, 2005 - Thanksgiving Night - to the Niagara DareDevils 116-111 - which was 445 days ago.
