
Jam Announce Coaching Staff Promotions and Additions

BAKERSFIELD, November 22, 2013 - The Bakersfield Jam today announced coaching staff promotions and additions entering the 2013-14 season. John Bryant has been promoted to Associate Head Coach, while George Galanopoulos has been promoted to Assistant Coach. In addition, Jordan Brady will join the team as an Assistant Coach and six other new members will join Will Voigt for his fifth season as Head Coach of the Bakersfield Jam.
Bryant returns for his third season with the Jam. He spent the past two seasons as Assistant Coach and will now take the role of Associate Head Coach. In addition to his new role, Bryant will continue to be the Strength & Conditioning Coach for Bakersfield.
"John has been a valuable member of our staff for some time now and we felt that it was time to recognize that fact," said Voigt.
Galanopoulos, a Chicago native, began in the Jam coaching staff in 2011 as a basketball operations intern before being named Player Development Coach last season. In addition to his new responsibilities as an Assistant Coach, Galanopoulos will continue to prepare and execute all player development duties.
"George came to us as an intern 2 years ago and has worked incredibly hard to develop into a promising young coach in this league," said Voigt.
Brady joins the Jam after serving one year as Assistant Coach with the Iowa Energy last season. Prior to his role with the Energy, Brady played professional basketball for three years in the NBA Development League (two seasons with the Utah Flash and one with the Los Angeles D-Fenders) and one year overseas.
"Jordan is a great addition to our staff," said Voigt. "He has experience in the D-League as a player and as an assistant and will bring a valuable outside perspective on things."
Bakersfield also added a Video Coordinator, Danny Mills, an Assistant Video Coordinator, Nicki Gross, three basketball operations interns, Justin Jackson, Jacob Miller and Jack Ridgway, and an Assistant Athletic Trainer, Jonathan Mak, to their staff for the upcoming season.
Mills spent the past three years as an Assistant Coach for the SIGMA Basket basketball team in Italy. In addition, he has worked as a scout for the Albert Schweitzer Tournament and Camp Counselor for the Adidas EuroCamp 2011.
Gross most recently interned at the 2013 NBA Summer League where she assisted in set-up and breakdown of all basketball operations prior to and at the end of each game day. Last season, she was a Graduate Manager for the Men's Basketball Team at Monmouth University. In addition, Gross was also an intern for the NBC Olympics in 2012.
Prior to joining Bakersfield, Jackson spent three years as an Assistant Director of Sports Performance at CES Performance where he was a speed and agility and strength performance trainer and assisted the front desk management. He has also served as a statistician at Portsmouth Invitational Tournament and has been a testing assistant at BAM Testing.
Miller has served the past two seasons as a student manager for the Women's Basketball Program at Ohio State University. In addition, Miller has coaching experience in various basketball camps. In 2011, Miller was a marketing and promotions intern for Columbus Crew of the MLS.
Ridgway most recently was an accounting intern at Lakeland College. During his internship with Lakeland College, Ridgway worked with data analysis, internal controls and assisted in various aspects of the school's management and non-profit accounting practices. He also was an instructor at Tibetts Instructional Basketball School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Prior to joining the Jam, Mak has held various clinical experiences at Illinois State University where he's worked with their men's basketball team, football team and women's soccer team. In addition, Mak was an intern at Hopedale Medical Complex where he incorporated academic skills as they applied to all entities of sports medicine program.
In addition to the new members of the coaching staff, Brian Levy, Assistant General Manager, and Shaun Mirza, Head Athletic Trainer, are returning for the 2013-14 campaign.
