Sioux City Musketeers News Release

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Musketeers were back in action against the US-NTDP U-17s on Saturday and managed to bounce back with a 3-0 win over the program.

Tonight was a big defensive battle between the two clubs with neither team finding much in the way of offense. Matt Miller would eventually get the scoring started with his second goal in two games at the 17:25 mark of the 1st period. Devlin McCabe and Jordan Steinmetz made a few excellent passes to set up Miller who put in right back in the top corner, the same spot he scored the night before, to give the Musketeers a 1-0 lead on the powerplay. That would be all the scoring for the 1st period sending the Musketeers to the room with a 1-0 lead.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the 2nd period setting up a tense winner take all 3rd period.

Just over halfway into the frame, it would be none other than Bobby Brink, who was the recipient of a nasty cross check earlier in the game, who extended the Musketeers lead with a classic Brinker bomb.

Josh Boyer would seal the deal for Sioux City with his first goal as a Musketeer at the 19:29 mark of the 3rd period.

The biggest story of the night for the Musketeers was in net. Jake Sibell made all 15 stops in this one to get the victory and earn his first USHL shutout. Drew Commesso made 23 stops for Team USA.

The Musketeers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon for a big game against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Puck drop set for 3:05 pm.
