Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters today announced that outfielder Jake Meyers was named the team's Thiessen Law Firm June Player of the Month.
Meyers hit .337 (33x98) with 9 home runs, 17 RBIs and a 1.072 OPS in 24 games in June. He had a breakout series from June 17-22 in El Paso, hitting seven home runs with 11 RBIs over a five-day stretch.
Meyers was a key catalyst in the Skeeters record-breaking 24-15 win on June 20 in El Paso, hitting three home runs in the game. He became the first player in Skeeters history, including their time as an independent franchise, to hit three home runs in a game. The Skeeters set their franchise record for runs and hits in a game in the June 20 win.
Entering Friday's game in Round Rock, Meyers is fifth in Triple A West in batting average (.335), tied for third in home runs (14), fourth in OPS 1.025 and tied for first in hits (60). Meyers' 14 home runs this year has set his career high, surpassing his previous high of nine from 2019 with Corpus Christi (AA) and Fayetteville (A+).
Single-game Skeeters tickets are on sale through the month of July. People can visit sugarlandskeeters.com/tickets to purchase their tickets today.
