Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 9)-Great goaltending leads to more wins in the standings, and this could not be truer following Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger's performance Tuesday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre as Texas beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 2-0.
After a scoreless first and second period, the Brahmas returned to the ice in the final period with vengeance. Brahmas leading goal scorer Scott Sheppard started the scoring with his tenth of the season on Wylie Rogers seven minutes in the third. Rio Grande Valley showed resilience as they had three key attempts on the powerplay, but the Brahmas penalty killing unit led by Brett Jaeger was not willing to break the shutout attempt, the second in three games.
The Brahmas powerplay scored with four minutes remaining in the final period with a goal from Greg McConnell, his third of the season. Texas outshot the Killer Bees 35-32, helping them with their 2-0 victory.
Texas will then begin their longest road trip of the season starting Friday and Saturday in Mississippi. Texas defeated Mississippi in the home opener at the NYTEX Sports Centre 4-2.
