Rage Deal for 20-Goal Scorer
December 9, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage acquired Kai Magnussen from the Tulsa Oilers yesterday in exchange for future considerations. The second-year right winger scored 20 goals last season for the Oilers as a rookie.
Magnussen, who turned pro after two seasons at Holy Cross College, compiled a total of 33 points (20g-13a) and 92 penalty minutes last year for Tulsa. The 5-foot-10, 190 lb. native of Okotoks, Alberta, arrives in Broomfield after recording four points (2g-2a) and 25 penalty minutes through 16 games this season.
"Kai had a good rookie year, and his addition will add both scoring and depth to our line-up," said Rage Head Coach and General Manager Tracy Egeland. "He also got off to a slow start last season, but he plays hard and we expect the change of scenery will help spark his numbers."
Magnussen should be in the line-up tomorrow night when the Rage open a two-game set against the defending President's Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs at Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m. The teams square-off again on Friday at the BEC also at 7:05 p.m.
