2008-09: First of three meetings
The Bucks are one of the hottest teams in the CHL right now, having won five straight games, and 10 out of their last 11 to increase their division lead over the Texas Brahmas. Laredo has outscored their opponents 41-26 during that span. The Bucks only blemish in their last 11 contests was a 5-3 loss to Mississippi on November 25th at the LEC.
The Bucks are coming off of a 2-1 shootout win over Texas on Saturday night, to increase their lead in the Southeast Division.
Laredo is led by their high-scoring line of Jeff Bes (7-32=39), Darryl Smith (16-16=32), and Rick Kozak (8-9=17), who have combined for 88 points so far this season.
Bes and Smith currently sit first and second in the CHL scoring race, with Smith also leading all rookies in scoring.
The Bucks enter Wednesday's game never having lost to the Scorpions at the LEC. Laredo is 7-0 at home all-time against the Scorpions, including their 2007 Playoff Series.
New Mexico enters Wednesday's game in third place in the Southwest Division, 13 points behind Odessa.
The Scorpions split a pair of games with Amarillo last weekend in New Mexico, beating the Gorillas 8-2 on Friday, before falling 6-3 in Saturday's re-match.
New Mexico has a couple of potent offensive weapons in Craig MacDonald (13-15=28), and Mitch Stephens (9-18=27).
The Bucks will head back on the road to play Corpus Christi on Thursday, and Odessa on Saturday. Laredo will return to the LEC next weekend, when they host Rio Grande Valley on December 19 for Posada Night, and Corpus Christi on Saturday for their Holiday Jersey Auction.
