 Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that high-flying forward Jadran Beljo (YAH dren BELL joe) has agreed to terms on a contract with the Florida Everblades for next season. Beljo becomes the third player signed by Florida for the 2009-10 season.
Jadran Beljo has spent the last five seasons competing in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Peterborough Petes, Mississauga IceDogs and London Knights. Over the last two seasons, the Sudbury, Ontario native hit his stride scoring 69 goals and 141 points in just 116 games. The 6-foot, 175-pounder averaged nearly a point a game during his major junior career tallying 221 points in 267 games in the OHL.
"We were close to signing Jadran in February but he was rehabbing from an injury and we thought it would be better to let him fully recover," said coach Malcolm Cameron.
Cameron went onto say that Beljo's numbers speak for themselves, "Jadran is a highly-skilled winger who exhibits great skill around the net. He really became a finisher over the last two seasons and he is excited to get back to playing next year after sitting out with injury."
The right-handed shooting left winger injured his shoulder in the Toronto Maple Leafs rookie camp. He had surgery on Halloween and has been rehabbing ever since.
The 22-year-old said he is looking forward to playing in Florida, "I have never been to Florida, but I have heard great things about the Everblades. I am looking forward to playing competitively again."
