Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced changes to their 2009-10 regular season schedule today.

Victoria will condense the originally scheduled three - two game road trips to Anchorage into two - three game trips this season. The Salmon Kings will add a game onto both the October and January road trips. This will eliminate the November road trip to Alaska.

The Salmon Kings and Aces will kick off the season on Friday, October 16th in Anchorage. The teams will conclude the three-game set with games on Saturday, October 17th and Monday, October 19th.

The updated schedule for the January road trip to Alaska will have the teams play on January 2, 3 and 4.

The Premier ‘AA' Hockey League drew over 3 million fans for the 16th year in a row and reached the 3 million mark in the least amount of games since 2005-06. The ECHL averaged 4,258 per game in 2008-09 which is the highest average since 2005-06 and the second-highest average in the last eight seasons. The league has averaged over 4,000 fans for the last five years and 17 times in the last 19 years.

Beginning in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier ‘AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that will have 24 teams in 16 states and British Columbia playing 864 games from Oct. 17, 2008 to Apr. 4, 2009. Nineteen of the 24 teams have played at least five years in their current city.

The ECHL is the third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League.

The conference and division alignments and the format for the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be determined and approved at a later date by the ECHL Board of Governors.
