Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - The Omaha Lancers, members of the United States Hockey League along with NHL Central Scouting announced that defenseman Jacob Bryson has been added to the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game that will take place on January 12th in Omaha, NE at Ralston Arena.
Bryson is a first year NHL Draft eligible defenseman playing in his first USHL season. The London, ON native currently leads all rookie defensemen in scoring with 19 points in 29 games, and ranks sixth amongst all USHL defensemen in scoring. Bryson is tied for the lead in scoring for the Lancers, and is currently on a three-game point streak since the USHL holiday break.
"It's an amazing feeling," said Bryson. "I just kept playing my game all season long. It's a big opportunity for me to step up and hopefully prove myself."
With the addition of Bryson, Omaha now has four players named to the game including forwards William Fallstrom and John Wojciechowski and goaltender Zackarias Skog. Bryson will join Sioux City Musketeers defenseman and fellow Providence College commit Jake Ryczek on the blue line.
Bryson will replace Waterloo Black Hawks defenseman Sam Rossini, who will not be able to compete due to injury.
2016 marks the fourth time the USHL will be hosting the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and it follows a record-setting 2015 NHL Draft that saw 37 players from the 2014-15 season selected by NHL teams. The 2016 NHL Draft will be held June 24-25 in Buffalo, NY at the First Niagara Center, home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.
