Chicago Steel News Release

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") announced Monday that Chicago Steel center Tanner Laczynski has been named CCM/USHL Forward of the Week for the period ending Jan. 3, 2016. Laczynski scored four goals and added four assists in Chicago's four road games (2-2-0-0) over the past week.

The Ohio State University commit recorded his first career hat trick as part of a five-point (3+2) New Year's Eve in Chicago's 8-4 victory Thursday at Muskegon. It was Laczynski's ninth multi-point effort of the season. The second year NHL Draft eligible forward has tallied at least one point in 12 of his last 14 appearances.

Laczynski, 18, returned to the Steel last week after playing for the U.S. Junior Select Team at last month's World Junior A Challenge in Cobourg and Whitby, Ont., Canada, helping the team to a third-place finish.

The 6-foot-1, 197 pound center has now tallied 21 assists on the USHL season, placing him second in the league. The Shorewood, Ill., native is also ranked fourth in the league in scoring, tallying 10 goals and 31 points through 25 games. Laczynski tallied 46 points in 57 games played for the Steel during the 2014-2015 season.

Laczynski was previously named to the roster for next week's USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game to be played Jan. 12 in Omaha, Neb. The Steel's leading scorer will be the lone returning player from the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Dubuque, Iowa.

Chicago continues its season-long, 10-game road trip next weekend with a two-game visit to Fargo to take on the Force. Chicago will return to Fox Valley Ice Arena for its next home game Sunday, Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. to take on Muskegon. This game will feature Mommy, Minions and Me Day. Plus, it's a Steel Family Pack game - fans can receive four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four chuck-a-pucks starting at just $59. Tickets are available at the box office inside Fox Valley Ice Arena, by phone at 855-51-STEEL or online at ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com.
