CCM USHL Players of the Week Named

January 4, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 15 of the 2015-16 season, following the holiday break that consumed Week 14 of the regular season. NHL Central Scouting listed forward Tanner Laczynski took home honors for the first time this season, while back-to-back shutouts got Logan Halladay Goaltender of the Week, and Quinn Hughes' four-goal game sealed Defenseman of the Week. CCM Hockey is the official equipment partner of the USHL.

Tanner Laczynski - Chicago Steel

4 GP: 4 goals, 4 assists, +3 rating

Laczynski's eight-point week put the second year NHL Draft eligible forward fourth in league scoring after missing two weeks due to international play. Laczynski's five-point game on Thursday was the Ohio State University commit's first career USHL hat trick. The game was also the forward's ninth multi-point game this season. The Chicago Steel are 8-1-0-0 in games that Laczynski is credited with a multi-point performance. Laczynski's 21 assists on the year are second best in the USHL this season. The Shorewood, IL native has won two bronze medals internationally this season: one with USA Hockey at the World Junior A Challenge, and one with the Chicago Steel at the Junior Club World Cup. Following a 46-point season in 57 games, Laczynski now has 31 points in 25 games played. Laczynski previously played for the Chicago Mission (HPHL) prior to being selected in the 2013 Phase I USHL Draft in the 4th round, 51st overall.

Quinn Hughes - Team USA

3 GP: 4 goals, 0 assists, +7 rating

Hughes tied a Tier 1 USHL record with four goals in a game, matching a mark that 20 other players have set since 2002. Hughes became the first USHL defenseman to score four goals in one game. No USHL player has ever scored five goals in one game during the Tier 1 era. Hughes is a rookie defenseman for Team USA this season with nine points in 14 games. The Orlando, FL native will be eligible for the 2018 NHL Draft, and is currently committed to play college hockey at the University of Michigan. Hughes previously played for the Toronto Marlboros AAA (GTMMHL).

Logan Halladay - Bloomington Thunder

2-0-0-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%

Halladay extended his shutout streak to over 147 minutes after back-to-back shutouts this past week. Halladay stopped all 20 shots Tuesday against Sioux Falls, and followed up the performance with a 29-save shutout Saturday against Madison. The Cary, NC native now has two shutouts on the year, the first of his USHL career. The uncommitted goaltender now has a 2.28 GAA and .914 SV% this season, and has helped the Bloomington Thunder reach a playoff spot halfway through the season. Halladay previously played for the Janesville Jets (NAHL), Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL), Chicago Young Americans (HPHL) and Carolina Jr. Hurricanes AAA.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates its 14th season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2015-16. A record 37 players were chosen in the 2015 NHL Draft and more than 375 players on team rosters last season committed to NCAA Division I schools, further establishing the USHL as the world's foremost producer of junior hockey talent.
