
Jacksonville Wave sign first players

Jacksonville, FL. Larry Jacobs, General Manager of the ABA Jacksonville Wave today announced the signing of the team's first players as a result of the tryout camp on June 5th and 6th.
The players include Artemus McClary, Jacksonville University; Chad Johnson, University of Pittsburgh; Richard Millisap, Alabama State; Warren (George Byrd), Virginia Commonwealth and Andrew Skoglund from Iowa State University. According to Coach Chris Carter, "We were very surprised at the quality of players who showed up at camp; we were hoping for one or two who could really play - these guys were in shape, motivated and ready to play. In fact, our staff of local coaches and scouts were quite amazed at the skills. We are lookihng for guys who can play team oriented basketball and represent the organization with class. We got our first five."
Carter continued, "We also invited seven other players to our next camp that will be held in Miami, Florida later this summer, including Tyree Jones, Eastern Oregon; Delwyn Jackson, Florida A & M, Michael Pawelczal, Louisiana Tech; Chris Hyppa, Saint Martin and Mike Townsend, UT-Chattanooga. Players are coming from throughout the country - their skills are amazing."
