Jackson's Hat Trick Paces Steel

BENSENVILLE, Ill - Robby Jackson led the way on Saturday night with three goals as the Steel defeated the Lumberjacks 7-3. Fredrik Olofsson chipped in two others. In total, eight Steel players recorded points.

The Steel came out and took a two goal lead after the first period. Jackson started the scoring off less than a minute into the game. John Ernsting was credited with the first of his two assists on the goal. CJ Smith netted the second goal while shorthanded.

The Lumberjacks started the second period by scoring two goals of their own to tie the game. Cullen Hurley and Matt Iacopelli were the goal scorers while Daniel Willett and Jack Rowe had the assists. Jackson closed the period by reclaiming the lead for the Steel.

The Steel exploded for four goals in the final period to put the game out of reach. Ernsting found Jackson for the first goal of the period. Danny Fetzer had the second and Olofsson netted the final two.

Chris Nell stopped 41 of the 44 shots he saw on Saturday. Jackson, Olofsson, and Ernsting were named the three stars of the game.
