Jackson Shuts-out Kingfish 3-0

The Jackson Bandits used two third period goals by John McNabb while Tyrone Gardner made 29 saves as the Bandits shutout the Kingfish, 3-0.

Garnet Jacobson's two-minute hooking penalty was the only highlight of a scoreless first period. Jeff Blair made 13 saves in the stanza, while Gardner turned away all seven of the Kingfish's opening period shots.

Jackson broke the scoreless tie at the 8:59 mark of the second period as Brent Gauvreau's shot was deflected straight into the air in front of Kingfish goaltender Jeff Blair. Losing sight of the puck as it went skyward, Blair couldn't find the puck till it landed behind him in the net giving the Bandits the 1-0 lead. Darryl Laplante and Andrei Lupandin added the assists on the goal.

John McNabb shorthanded goal extended Jackson's lead to two on the penalty kill. The forward took an outlet pass from Brent Gauvreau and fired a slap shot that beat Blair over the shoulder at the 6:29 mark of the third period.

Jackson took a 3-0 lead as McNabb beat Blair on a breakaway at the 14:36 mark of the third to ice the contest. Lupandin and goaltender Tyrone Gardner added the assists on the goal.

The Kingfish could not capitalize on a power play late in the third period as Tyrone Gardner recorded his second shutout against the Kingfish this season.

Jeff Blair made 27 saves in the losing effort and falls to 5-14-5 on the year for the Kingfish.
