Dayton Bombers News Release

Fred Slukynsky's rebound goal lifted the Dayton Bombers to their third straight overtime triumph 4-3 over the Toledo Storm in an East Coast Hockey League game played at the Toledo Sports Arena on Friday night. Chris M. Thompson moved the puck into the Toledo zone on the left wing and fed the puck to the trailer, defenseman Chris B. Thompson. Chris B. Thompson's shot was blocked, but Slukynsky gathered the puck and roofed it over fallen Toledo goalie Doug Teskey to give the Bombers the win with just 21 seconds remaining in the overtime session.

The Bombers had the lead three different times during regulation. Brian Cummings put the Bombers ahead 1-0 at 5:19 of the first period with his fourth goal of the season. Center Jamie Ling intercepted a clearing attempt along the near wing and fed the puck to the middle for Cummings, who deked Toledo goaltender Doug Teskey. The Storm responded at 17:45 of the first on Darryl Bootland's rebound tally.

After a scoreless second period, the Bombers pulled ahead twice in third. Chris M. Thompson's slap shot, power play goal from the right circle put the Bombers in front 2-1 at the 51 second mark, but Jeff Johnstone slipped a loose puck across the Bombers' goal line at 7:02 to tie the score at two.

On a three-on-two in the Toledo zone, Jason Deskins set up Torrey DiRoberto for a slap shot goal through the legs of Teskey to give the Bombers a 3-2 edge at 16:23, but Alexander Jacques netted the tying score with just 11 seconds left in regulation. The score came with Toledo's goalie pulled for an extra attacker.

The Bombers, who have won three in a row, will play at Wheeling tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. The Bombers' next home game will be on Sunday, January 19 against the Johnstown Chiefs (6:00 p.m.). There will be a pre-game skate from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on another Kids' Club Sunday presented by Capn' Bogey's at the Nutter Center.
