Lancaster Stormers News Release
Nic Jackson homered and drove in four runs, leading the Camden Riversharks to a 6-3 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers Tuesday evening at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
The critical moment in the game came in the top of the seventh with Lancaster leading, 3-2. With two outs and Alberto Castillo at first base, starter Jason Scobie was set to face Jackson, who had doubled in a run in the fifth. The Barnstormers opted to keep Scobie in the game instead of bringing Ricardo Gomez in from the bullpen. Jackson roped a 3-0 pitch out of the yard to right center for a 4-3 lead.
Jackson and Davenport added RBI singles in the top of the ninth to put the game away, turning it over to Alec Zumwalt, who allowed only a one-out single in the bottom of the ninth for his 22nd save.
The Barnstormers took a quick lead. Mike Woods led off with a double, advanced on a grounder by Michael Campbell and scored on a grounder by Lloyd Turner.
Camden tied the game in similar fashion in the second. L.J.Biernbaum doubled inside the first base bag and took third on Sheldon Fulse's ground ball. Tyler Von Schell delivered the run with a single to left.
Ivanon Coffie singled home Brian Munhall in both the second and fourth innings off Jose Lima (3-4) for a 3-1 lead.
NOTES: The Barnstormers played without DH Matt LeCroy, who was drilled in the knee by a fastball on Monday night, and Danny Gonzalez, who missed his third straight game...Scobie set a season-high by a Barnstormers pitcher with nine strikeouts...Overall, the Barnstormers fanned 14...Lancaster's only extra-base hit of the night was the leadoff double by Woods...Woods scored his 88th run of the season, three shy of the team record...Lancaster will send Ben Fritz (0-0) to the hill on Wednesday evening against right-hander Jake Dittler (2-3)...Game time is 7:05 PM.
