FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, June 7, 2005 â Georgia Force wide receiver/linebacker Chris Jackson and quarterback Matt Nagy have been named U.S. Army Ironman and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, for the Conference Championship Round of the 2005 playoffs.
JACKSON (6-2, 220, Washington State), who is in his sixth AFL season, caught eight passes for a game-high 147 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Force past the Orlando Predators, 60-58, in Saturday's National Conference Championship game. Jackson also totaled 94 yards on four kickoff returns and added two solo tackles from his linebacker position on defense. It's the third "Ironman of the Week" award and the ninth weekly AFL honor for him.
NAGY (6-2, 220, Delaware) was responsible for all eight Georgia touchdowns in the Force's National Conference Championship game victory over Orlando. He threw seven scoring passes completing 26-of-36 attempts for 344 yards without an interception. Nagy also added a 3-yard scoring run on his only attempt to propel the Force to their first ArenaBowl appearance. This marks the second time he has earned an AFL weekly honor.
