Crush's Floyd named ADT Defensive Player of the Week

Denver, Colo. – Colorado Crush defensive specialist Rashad Floyd has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for the Conference Championship round of the 2005 playoffs, the league announced today.

Floyd (5-9, 180, Portland State), in his fourth AFL season and second with Colorado, helped lead the Central Division Champion Crush to a 49-43 victory over the Chicago Rush in the American Conference Championship on Sunday. Floyd recorded 13.0 total tackles (12 solo) in the game, and added four pass breakups to help the Crush advance to its first ArenaBowl.

This marks the third time the 2004 All-Arena performer has an earned an AFL weekly honor, the second time this season. Floyd also earned Defensive Player of the Week following Week 5. He led the league in solo tackles with 123.0 and is third player to earn a weekly award this season. Wide receiver/defensive back Ahmad Hawkins was named Defensive Player of the week following week 10.

The Crush (12-6) will meet the National Conference Champion Georgia Force (13-5) in ArenaBowl XIX. In the clubs' only other meeting, Colorado lost to Georgia, 44-40, in the franchise opener at Pepsi Center on 2/3/04.

ArenaBowl XIX will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at Thomas & Mack Center. The Arena Football League chose Las Vegas as the first neutral-site championship location in the league's history. ArenaBowl weekend will include interactive player and celebrity events, such as concerts, an awards show, fan festivals and more.
