Jack's Forward Joe Connor Named to U.S. Junior Select Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - Thursday afternoon USA Hockey announced the roster for the 2023 U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete in the World Junior A Challenge from December 10-17 in Turo, Nova Scotia. Lumberjacks forward Joe Connor (Amherst, NH) was among the 22 players selected to the roster.

"It's always an honor to represent your country, and it means a lot to me. There's nothing better than that." said Connor on his selection. Connor added "I can't wait to get out there and help the U.S. to another successful tournament."

The team features 22 current USHL players and will play four preliminary round games against Slovakia (12/11, 2:30 p.m.), Sweden (12/12, 6:30 p.m.), Canada East (12/14, 6:30 p.m.), and Canada West (12/15, 6:30 p.m.). The semi-finals will take place on December 16th with the championship following on December 17th at 4 p.m. EST.

The U.S. has found lots of success at the World Junior A Challenge with 9 tournament championships since the inaugural World Junior A Challenge in 2006. 9 Lumberjacks have been selected to the U.S. Select Team during their time in Muskegon including 4 players last season (Nate McBrayer, Gavin McCarthy, Jake Richard, and Ethan Whitcomb) as part of the 2022 Championship winning team.
