New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals were all-around sensational, scoring a season-high 19 runs in a 19-2 romp of the Brockton Rox
New Jersey jumped all over Brockton starter Mike Henry in every which way. In the top of the first, the Jackals touched him up for six earned runs, and knocked him out of the ballgame after recording two outs. John Lindsey, Joe Jiannetti, Steve Checksfield, and Chris Rowan all tallied RBIs for New Jersey. The hit parade continued in the second. Sandy Madera stroked a two ruin blast to left and Darren Ciraco tallied an RBI single, making it 9-0, Jackals.
The Jackals still weren't finished. They poured on six more runs in the top of the fifth. Ricardo Cordova drove in two, and Madera crushed his second homerun of the evening, this time a three-run shot. After five, the Jackals led 15-0 over Brockton.
Cordova reached on an error in the top of the eighth, driving in pinch hitter Tyler Brock, to make it a 16-0 lead over the Rox.
It officially became a romp of Brockton in the top of the ninth. Zack Smithlin, Cordova and Mike Rucci all singled home runs consecutively, finishing off the Jackals score at 19 runs.
Brockton's only runs would come in the bottom of the ninth. The Rox put together a two out rally, and Kris Zacuto hit a two run homerun to left, breaking up the shutout.
Sandy Madera finished 4-4, for the Jackals, with two homeruns and 5 RBI.
Not to be forgotten was an amazing outing by Jackal starter Josh Brey. Brey allowed only two hits in six full innings. He blanked the Rox while walking only two, and fanning six Brockton hitters.
