Jackals Win 5-4 in 9th Inning

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals beat the Adirondack Lumberjacks, 5-4, on Craig Conway's RBI single in the 9th inning Wednesday night at Yogi Berra Stadium. The Jackals have won eight in a row and 16 out of their last 17.

The Jackals went into the bottom of the 9th with the game tied up at four. With one out, Mikaela Dworken and Todd Johannes hit back to back singles and Jack Lipari loaded the bases with a walk. Conway drove the ball right back up the middle to bring in the wining run.

Adirondack's starting pitcher, Chad Ward, received a no decision. He allowed four runs on four hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out two. Ward came into the game with the lowest ERA in the league, 1.72. Dave Johnson (2-3) took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings giving up a run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

Ryan Halla (1-0), the fifth pitcher used for the Jackals received the win. He pitched a perfect 9th inning, striking out two.

Ryan Kane blasted hit 11th homerun of the year, a two run shot, in the 6th inning to tie the game. Conway finished the evening 2-5 with a triple and an RBI. Chas Terni's double in the 8th inning brought his league leading total to 27.
