
Black Bears to Host United Way Grand Slam Rally

Pittsfield - The Berkshire Black Bears will host the Brockton Rox for a three game series at Wahconah Park beginning on Thursday August 8th. The Black Bears will team up with the Berkshire County United Way to host the kickoff for the "Pacesetters Grand Slam Rally". The United Way Pacesetter campaign is seeking to raise money for the Berkshire County United Way and its more than seventy human service agency organizations. Last years Pacesetters' campaign raised $800,000. This year's event at Wahconah Park will include a picnic with a surprise speaker. All companies that participate in the Grand Slam Rally will receive public address system recognition before and during the game. On Friday August 9th, the Berkshire Black Bears and Sim's Barber Shop will team up for Berkshire Black Bears Buzzcut Night. Sim's barbers will offer "buzzcut" haircuts for $4 (regular price $12) with all the money going to the Berkshire Center for Family's and Children (The Kids Place). Local businesses will also match the amount raised. In addition to "Buzzcut Night" the Black Bears will also feature "Airwave Dave as Austin Powers" for entertainment during the game.
