Little Falls, NJ - Angel Berroa's sac fly broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Jackals took the series finale from the Rockland Boulders by a 3-2 final.

Nick Giarraputo's solo shot to left in the top of the second inning tied the score at one, while the Jackals rode the pitching prowess of right-hander Steve Fox for six and a third innings.

Fox, a reliever for the Jackals last season and making his third career start, allowed two runs on five hits. Fox struck out four and walked one. He left the game to a standing ovation from the Jackal faithful.

Giarraputo's home run was his fifth of the season, tied for second-best in the Can-Am League. He currently holds the Jackals' triple crown - his .477 average, five home runs, and 17 RBIs all lead the team.

For the Boulders, outfielder Keith Brachold continued his dominant hitting, hitting his third home run in his last six at bats at Yogi Berra Stadium. He's now the Can-Am League leader in the category.

The starter for the Boulders, RHP Julian Sampson went six innings, striking out seven and walking only one. Chris Rubio, recently removed from the disabled list, came on in relief and allowed Berroa's tie-breaking sacrifice fly to left. He took the loss and is now 0-1.

Jackals' second baseman Gaetano Giunta went 1-2 with two walks, extending his hit streak to 10 games.

The Jackals will head on the road tomorrow to face Worcester for a three-game set. Game time for Friday is scheduled at 7:05 PM. Jon Kibler (1-0, 6.55 ERA) takes the hill for the Jackals. The team will return to Yogi Berra Stadium on Monday to face the St. Paul Saints for a four-game home stand. The series will mark the return of former Jackals manager and current Saints manager George Tsamis.

The New Jersey Jackals, proud members of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Yogi Berra Stadium located on the campus of Montclair State University in Little Falls, NJ. 2012 single-game tickets, season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 973-746-7434.
