Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today the details of their 2nd Annual Pro Placement Camp to be held at First Arena this September.
The Elmira Jackals will hold the 2007 Elmira Jackals Professional Hockey Placement Camp at the First Arena in Elmira, New York, on September 14th - 16th, 2007. General Managers, Head Coaches and Scouts will be invited from all ECHL, IHL, CHL and SPHL teams. This Tryout Camp will be open to the public for all sessions.
"We are anticipating another exciting and intense try out camp this year," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "Last year we discovered a some players who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to skate with a pro team. Dan Veenema became a Jackals fan favorite for his heart and work ethic, all coming from his attendance at our 2006 Pro Placement Camp. We are hoping to find another diamond in the rough at this year's tryout."
The 2007 Jackals Tryout Camp is the 2nd Annual Open Tryout, offering invitations to the 2007 Jackals Training Camp, in preparations of their inaugural ECHL season. During the 2006 Tryouts, Dan Veenema emerged and stayed with the Jackals roster for the entire 2006-07 season. Milan Maslonka and Jan Skvarka also spent time with Elmira after attending the camp; after playing in Elmira, Maslonka moved on to Youngstown of the CHL and even earned a call-up to the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack. Several players from the 2006 Placement Camp saw action in the SPHL, including: Leni DiCostanzo, Justin Schmit, Martin Kubaliak and Dan Hickman.
A minimum of 4 players will be invited to the Elmira Jackals Training Camp in October. Only the most qualified players will be accepted.
