Wildcatters Nab Nicholson for Next Season

Texas Wildcatters News Release
BEAUMONT, TX (June 26, 2007)--Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Malcolmn Cameron announced today the team has agreed to terms with forward Colin Nicholson for the 2007-08 season.
Nicholson, whose determined defensive play as a checking line forward marked his 2006-07 campaign, expressed excitement at the prospect of returning to Beaumont. "I'm looking forward to my second season with the 'Catters and hope to make a definite impact," the Dartmouth, NS, native said.
Nicholson registered 13 points (7-6-13) in 49 regular season and playoff games with Texas in 2006-07, his rookie season.
For Nicholson, a lightning-fast, relentless backchecker, contributions go beyond statistics. "Colin brings more to a team than just numbers," said Cameron, "He's got those intangibles that you really appreciate as a coach."
For his part, Nicholson has embraced the task of defensive-minded forward but hopes to display other aspects of his game during his sophomore season. "I enjoy playing spoiler, shutting down other teams'top lines," he said of last season's duties, "Though I am hoping to chip in more on the offensive side this year."
Nicholson's importance to the 2007-08 Texas squad is not lost on Cameron, whose Wildcatters look to build off of the team's first gambit into the Kelly Cup Playoffs last season in which they advanced to the South Division Finals. He heralded Nicholson's play down the stretch, "Colin is a big, strong kid who had an outstanding second half of the season. He really came to life and had a sensational playoff. I expect him to play a significant role this season. We are really excited to have him back."
