
Jackals swept by Spirit

Little Falls, NJ- The North Shore Spirit brought out the brooms against the Jackals, taking the final game of their set, by a score of 6-2.
Starter Aaron Myers, of the Jackals, ran into some trouble in the top of the first. A leadoff double by Marcos Agramonte, set up Nelson Teilon's RBI single. He was thrown out trying to stretch the single into a double. Vic Davilla then crushed a homerun over the right field wall, giving his squad a 2-0 lead.
With runners at the corners in the third, Kevin Grijak hit a slow ground ball down the first base line, allowing John Anderson to score. The run cut the Spirit lead in half.
New Jersey would even the game up at two in the bottom of the fifth. Craig Conway grounded into a fielder's choice with runners at the corners, scoring Jay LaFlair.
In the sixth, Davilla would single to lead things off. After Myers retired two batters, he left a pitch up in the zone to Joe Hastings, who belted a homerun to dead center. It was a two run homerun, his second on the year.
Two insurance runs would cross the plate in the eighth for the Spirit, against New Jersey reliever Carlos Figueroa. Pinch runner Mike Granger and Frank Charles both scored on a two out, two strike, double by Brian Macchi.
The Jackals mounted a comeback in the ninth, but were shut down by Spirit closer Ryan Bincondoa, when he entered the game with one out.
North Shore starter Jeremy Sugarman pitched eight and a third innings of work, giving up two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out six. He picked up his league leading seventh win of the season. Bincondoa was awarded the save.
Jackals' starter Aaron Myers went seven strong innings, giving up nine hits, and two homeruns, leading to four earned runs.
Marcos Agramonte was 3-4 with two doubles, for the Spirit. Vic Davilla was 2-4 with a homerun, two runs scored, and an RBI.
For New Jersey, Kevin Grijak was 2-4, with a double.
The New Jersey Jackals will enjoy an off day on Thursday before a weekend series against the New Haven County Cutters, starting on Friday evening. It is Fireworks Night at the Stadium.
